The current kernel (22.214.171.124-64.fc8) that people download with pup is broken for the rt61pci driver with the Ralink chipset.
02:00.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI[/code14ivblzx]
a working kernel that is current in testing is 126.96.36.199-85.fc8, to be released to live it needs 20 people to test and vote that it works. Currently 6 people have.
**don't** try this at home if you think it may break your working system.
If anyone is prepaired to test and vote for the new driver it will be rolled out to all Fedora 8 users if enought people vote for it, Can people who have a Ralink chipset wireless device that does not boot correctly with 188.8.131.52-64.fc8 and are prepaired to do some testing, run the following command as root.
[code14ivblzx]yum --enable-repo=updates-testing update kernel[/code14ivblzx]
Reboot, download a file, check a few websites and email and If the wireless device is working vote for the new kernel here
