Hi all,

Let me first express my great appreciation to the developers and testers who've given of their time to develop these drivers over the last several years. Linux wireless networking is greatly improved as a result of your efforts.

That said, I'm having some trouble getting the rt2x00 from git to initialize my rt2500 based card. Was hoping someone might know what's going on. There were no (major) problems with the rt2x00 build in the 2.24 kernel.

This is the relevant error from dmesg

phy0 -> rt2500pci_validate_eeprom EEPROM recovery - NIC 0xfff0
phy0 -> rt2500pci_validate_eeprom EEPROM recovery - Calibrate offset 0xff79
phy0 -> rt2x00_set_chip Info - Chipset detected - rt 0201, rf 0003, rev 00000004.
phy0 Selected rate control algorithm 'pid'
phy0 Failed to initialize wep
phy0 -> rt2x00lib_probe_dev Error - Failed to initialize hw.
rt2500pci probe of 00000106.0 failed with error -12

Hardware is an Athlon 64 3200+, Chipset is nVidia MCP619

Perhaps I've made a simple error in configuration, but I honestly don't know where to start looking on this one. Any advice or help would be very appreciated.

I'm including the full dmesg output as an attachment.

cheers

Okay, apparently I'm not uploading the dmesg as an attachment. Let me know what other information would be helpful and I'll post it.

By the way, I've already tried noacpi and pci=noacpi kernel options, to no avail.

Please read the thread [url1cuusnu1]http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4028&hilit=Failed+to+initialize+wep[/url1cuusnu1]
That contains the kernel config options you need.

That did it, thanks much. My apologies for duplicating another post. I had searched the forum for the error in question, but missed it somehow.

The module is now loading, but will not authenticate with the AP. I get the following errors repeated in /var/log/messages

May 29 120826 localhost phy0 -> rt2x00mac_conf_tx Info - Configured TX queue 0 - CWmin 4, CWmax 10, Aifs 2.
May 29 120826 localhost wlan0 Initial auth_alg=0

I noticed that some others were having a similar problem

Is this a known problem with the current git or am I perhaps missing something simple?

Thanks again

Known problem with current rt2x00.git, I'm not sure what is causing it.. S

I have the same problem with a rt2561 card.
Authentication timed up with 2.6.26 kernels but not with 2.6.24 kernels.
