Hello,

Iīm sorry, I donīt konow who to ask, the mailing list from wpa_suppicant gives me no response.

I wanted to make an ad-hoc network between two USB Sticks. If I enter the following in the console no Ad-hoc Network appears in windows xp
[code3m9uibbn]
# Start wpa_supplicant in the background
wpa_supplicant -g/var/run/wpa_supplicant-global -B

# Add a new interface (wlan0, no configuration file, driver=wext, and
# enable control interface)
wpa_cli -g/var/run/wpa_supplicant-global interface_add wlan0 \
"" wext /var/run/wpa_supplicant

# Configure a network using the newly added network interface:
wpa_cli -iwlan0 add_network
wpa_cli -iwlan0 set_network 0 ssid '"test"'
wpa_cli -iwlan0 set_network 0 key_mgmt NONE
wpa_cli -iwlan0 set_network 0 frequency 2412
wpa_cli -iwlan0 enable_network 0
wpa_cli -iwlan0 ap_scan 2

ifconfig wlan0 192.168.10.100
[/code3m9uibbn]

What could be the problem ?
I use Kernel 2.6.27-rc3 and an ASUS WL167G or an GIGABYTE Usb Stick with rt2500USB

Infrastructure Mode works fine...but not AdHoc mode

Hello,
Why are you using wpa-supplicant? I don't see in the command you posted where you set the interface to adhoc mode.

Regards,
Romain
