Hi,
I have a problem and need your help!
In the linux kernel 2.6.26,it has the rt2x00 module,
but it throw a error to prompt "No such file or directory" when calling the "request_firmware()" function .the firmware file has been placed in "/lib/firmware".
maybe something is wrong about the configuration of kernel.
but i don't known how to configure the kernel for it.
maybe you can give me a suggesstion!

[code1htfgmnb]
CONFIG_RT2X00=y
CONFIG_RT2X00_LIB=y
CONFIG_RT2X00_LIB_PCI=y
CONFIG_RT2X00_LIB_FIRMWARE=y
CONFIG_RT2X00_LIB_RFKILL=y
# CONFIG_RT2400PCI is not set
# CONFIG_RT2500PCI is not set
CONFIG_RT61PCI=y
CONFIG_RT61PCI_RFKILL=y
CONFIG_RT2X00_DEBUG=y
[/code1htfgmnb]
and copy the firmware [rt2561.bin/rt2561s.bin/rt2661.bin] to "/lib/firmware".
but why it throw the error"no such file or directory"?

As mentioned is other topics, use google to find documentation on how to configure the firmware loader (which in this case would be 'udev')

you don't write which distribution you have. it is important to place firmware. my kernel config is there (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5055).

if help you change drivers like module i don't know but you can try it.

i set the essid and bring up
[codeurja8cts]
iwconfig wlan0 essid testid
ifconfig wlan0 up
[/codeurja8cts]
and then it output
[codeurja8cts]
iwconfig wlan0
wlan0 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:"testid"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
Tx-Power=13 dBm
Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B
Encryption key:off
Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
[/codeurja8cts]
it looks like it dosn't work!
and other parameters use default value.

have you tried [ivp7et567]iwlist wlan0 scanning[/ivp7et567]?

or try set up [ivp7et567]/etc/conf.d/net[/ivp7et567] and restart wlan0 (you may read net.example)

As mentiond in various topics, you must explicitely provide the BSSID of the AP in order to associate.
So you must do
iwconfig wlan0 ap ....
