Who has something at least some idea of where to look for a mistake?
you are most likely using rt61pci (rt2x00), you will find countless threads about master mode in the rt2x00 section of the forum.
Some people posted success story, but keep in mind that rt2x00 is still under development, as is the mac80211 stack, so this feature is still very experimental.
