I have an Averatec 3270 laptop with the RaLink 2500 chipset. So far I have been unable to connect to my home wlan or to any other wlan.
I would like help in locating the 'magic' on button.
The wlan0 interface is being configured. I can see this in dmesg and iwconfig
wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID""
ModeManaged Frequency2.412 GHz Access Point Not-Associated
Retry min limit7 RTS throff Fragment thr=2346 B
Link Quality0 Signal level0 Noise level0
Rx invalid nwid0 Rx invalid crypt0 Rx invalid frag0
Tx excessive retries0 Invalid misc0 Missed beacon0
When I use tools like kwifimanager or wifi-radar, both fail to scan for networks (No networks found.). I tried to manually configure for my network with wifi-radar, but this also failed. (Could not get an IP address.)
I have also tried the command line tool, but I can't find any networks with that either.
I even went so far as to compile a fresh kernel with the 2500 module in it. I was still unable to connect.
There is a wi-fi button on this laptop and i have made sure it was on when doing these tests.
Any help is appreciated.
I used to have Window XP on here and was able to scan and connect etc... so I believe the hardware is fine.
