I see the rt2x00 drivers do not have iwspy support. Is this slated to be available anytime soon? If not, is it considered very difficult to add? Our device would mostly be used in ad-hoc mode and it would be nice to know the signal strength of the other node.

Nope, in fact the entire iwspy interface in the kernel is pending to be removed entirely.

Extremely, since the interace is already deprecated.

You should take a look at the nl80211 interface instead of the ancient and deprecated interfaces.

Thank you for the pointers. I am clearly behind in understanding wifi in the linux kernel.
