Hi,

I've observed with both the compat-wireless version that is in Ubuntu 9.04 backports-modules and the 2.6.31-rc Kernel that is in Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 5 that when using an rt73 based device with auto rate control the rate is stuck at 1 Mb/s. Is this a known issue related and if so

a) is it related to the tx ack problem that stops hostapd working?
b) is there any help needed to fix it?

Well it was a known issue for rt2500pci and rt61pci, I am not surprised about rt73usb joining the club. ;)

Possibly, but there might be additional problems as well. I think rt73usb suffers from the same problem as rt2500pci and rt61pci which was caused by the wrong TX ACK timeout value.

Could you please try rt2x00.git to see if the issue persists, I committed a fix in there which solved the problem for TX ACK timeout, a fix for the hostapd issue is also in there.

rt2x00.git is certainly an improvement - the rate does now get to 54 Mbps if the rt73 is near the AP. I'll need to try it on the laptop to see how it varies with range. I do however see a lockdep warning and I'm not getting anything like the real speed that I used to so there is plenty for me to investigate.

Just to be 100% clear, which git commits are these?

Thanks, Colin
