Hello, I am having trouble using rt61pci module. It keeps disconnecting, I can connect using the following commands

ifconfig wlan0 192.168.1.18 up
iwconfig wlan0 essid "Stugan" key "blablabla"
iwconfig wlan0 ap 000FB5D4B5DF

But after a while it disconnects. I have the required firmware installed. The card is a pcmcia Dlink DWL-G630 rev. E and I am using it with an old Compaq Presario laptop running Arhclinux with a 2.6.30-kernel.

I have successfully used this card on the same laptop for years running Debian with the old legacy rt61 driver, but I was not able to compile the legacy driver with the 2.6.30 kernel.

Any one who has rt61pci working with the 2.6.30 kernel? I am greatfull for suggestions.

Regards!

/me too, but wpa_supplicant helps by just reconnecting again. if you do not use wpa/whatever you just need to set it like
[code299xedcr]
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
ctrl_interface_group=0
ap_scan=1
country=EU

network={
ssid="someap"
bssid=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
key_mgmt=NONE
}
[/code299xedcr]

btw if anybody has better idea I'd like to hear it.

Some information
Will this problem be solved? Are developers working on it?

I have this problem too, so I am looking for a new device.

This device worked well with the old prop.. drivers, but in the standard kernel of opensuse 11.2 and the latest released custom compiled kernel this device still disconnects.
It disconnects randomly, samba, ssh, etc..

Hope it will be fixed someday.
