Hello,

I cannot establish any connect to my wlan router or see anything on my wlan!!!
I want to use WPA or WPA2 but there is no "connection" to my router -(

I've got following wlan-hardware
ZyXEl NWD310N Wireless N PCI Card and an USB-stick.

The router (D-Link DIR-655) works fine for sure!

Linux-Kernel
checked 2.6.36rc1
checked 2.6.36rc3
checked 2.6.36rc4 (today!)
actual Linux mylin 2.6.36-rc4 #10 SMP Mon Sep 13 140548 CEST 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Normaly I could see some AP or Stations... but

iwspy wlan 0
Interface wlan doesn't support IP addresses
wlan Interface doesn't support IP addresses
No valid addresses found exiting...

Where is my mistake or misunderstanding?!?!
So what can I do?
or do you need further details/information?

btw my linux is based on openfiler (a NAS)

Normaly I could see some AP or Stations... but

iwspy wlan 0
Interface wlan doesn't support IP addresses
wlan Interface doesn't support IP addresses
No valid addresses found exiting...
[/quotez9m71qqt]

How about:

[codez9m71qqt]iwlist wlan0 scan[/codez9m71qqt]

Seems to be the antenna!
If this is the antenna I will change the location !!!

And after this?

How can I use WPA... do I need wpa_supplicant?

IvD

You need either wpa_supplicant or network manager.
Usually distributions already have some applets installed to make network configuration easy for you, so just lookup the documentation for your distro.
