ok so i compiled and installed the drivers i have my firmware in /lib/firmware/2.6.20-16-generic/rt73.bin the driver itself is in /lib/modules/2.6.20-16-generic/kernel/drivers/ i edited the makefile so the firmware dir is /lib/firmware/2.6.20-16-generic/ everything loads properly but i do iwconfig and i get nothing ifconfig and i get nothing. /etc/modprobe.conf has alias wlan* rt73 and /etc/modules has rt73 added so it autoloads. dmesg gives me device descriptor read/64, error -110

what is going on?

Are you sure you have a rt73 device?

What does "lsusb" report?

The USB ID is missing from our list of known devices.
Are you sure this is a rt73usb device (what is the windows driver called?)

this is proof that it uses the rt73.sys driver in windows

Thanks. I have added the USB ID to the hardware list.
The driver should now correctly detect your card.
