Hello,

I am running Debian 4.0 Etch, Kernelversion 2.6.18-5-486 with a wireless card Edimax EW-7128g . It works under Windows 2000 and
Code:
lspci
shows:

Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: ALi Corporation M1541 (rev 04)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: ALi Corporation M1541 PCI to AGP Controller (rev 04)
00:02.0 USB Controller: ALi Corporation USB 1.1 Controller (rev 03)
00:03.0 Bridge: ALi Corporation M7101 Power Management Controller [PMU]
00:07.0 ISA bridge: ALi Corporation M1533/M1535 PCI to ISA Bridge [Aladdin IV/V/V+] (rev c3)
00:09.0 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AHA-2940/2940W / AIC-7871
00:0b.0 Multimedia audio controller: Ensoniq ES1370 [AudioPCI] (rev 01)
[b]00:0c.0 Network controller: RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI[/b]
00:0d.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
00:0f.0 IDE interface: ALi Corporation M5229 IDE (rev c1)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV11 [GeForce2 MX/MX 400] (rev b2)

So I
Code:
apt-get install rt2500-source
and some packages like linux-headers and compiled with

Code:
module-assistant prepare
module-assistant auto-install rt2500-source

as explained in the HOWTO.

To this point everything seems to be ok.
But now there is no interface:
Code:
ifconfig -a
shows:
Code:
eth0      Protokoll:Ethernet  Hardware Adresse 00:02:44:7F:46:CF
          inet Adresse:192.168.2.32  Bcast:192.168.2.255  Maske:255.255.255.0

I tried to
Code:
modprobe rt2500
, but this didn't help.

Thanks for help

Max

Hello,
Looking at "lspci" output, you have a rt61 device, and need the driver of the same therefore, not rt2500.

Regards,
Romain
