Some rules about raising support questions on this forum:
Supported driversWe provide support for the following drivers:
rt2x00 drivers which can be found inside kernels found on kernel.org
rt2x00 drivers which can be found inside distribution kernels
rt2x00 drivers inside the wireless-compat package from linuxwireless
We don't provide support for drivers which have not been released by this project, this means we don't support the drivers downloaded from the
Ralink website or any other project and we don't support the Windows, MacOS or BSD drivers.
If you downloaded the driver from another website, then that is the website where you should raise support questions. If you are using the rt2860 or rt2870 driver located in the staging directory of the linux kernel, you should ask support on the mailinglist:
devel@driverdev.osuosl.orgDo not copy your post over multiple topics / forumsToo often users post the same question or support request over multiple forums or in multiple topics, such posts will end up deleted and the user will be warned. When you have a question or a problem with the driver choose the correct forum and post your question there in a new topic. If you are
absolutely sure that you have the same issue with the same driver as described in another topic you can instead of creating a new topic post in the existing topic (but not both!)
This includes crossposting on the forum and mailinglist and the sourceforge bugtracker.
DistributionsWe support drivers, not distribution specific configurations. Practially all distributions have howtos on how to install the legacy driver for their latest release as well as documentation about how to configure a network interface. If you don't know how to incorporate Ralink specific configuration into a distribution specific network configuration file, then check their documentation first.
InformationWhen reporting problems don't forget to report the kernel version, rt2x00 version, 'dmesg' information, configuration settings, etc.
Questions, questions, questionsA lot of questions are being asked on this forum and the chance is very high that your question is already answered over and over again. This forum features an amazing thing: A
search button. And it is highly recommended it will be used before creating a new topic.
Posting a new topic with a frequently asked question, will either result in no answer or a reference to the
search button.
Forum Private MessagesPrivate messages to this projects members are not intended for driver support, if you need support then you can create a new topic on the forum. This increases your chance on answer since more people will be able to see the topic and can reply to it. Private messages are off course possible for things like reporting problems about the forum itself or sending information which should not be viewable by the general public.
