Hi,

In a global move to make legacy drivers compliant with modern linux standards, rt61 interface name has changed from ra* to wlan*.

Unfortunately, this will break backward compatibility with existing user configs (except for Fedora users), but the change should be easy to fix: you just need to update all ra0 references to wlan0.
As a consequence, Fedora users no longer need to use 'make install-fedora' anymore, a simple and standard 'make install' will do.

Regards,

Dirty and overall bad idea.

-- referring to add of "alias wlan*" to modprobe.conf --- BAD IDEA.
I cannot load wlan_wep .. instead rt61 get's loaded (or some) .. It's incompatible with other wlan drivers like madwifi.

The driver obtained from the cvs daily tar contains the change to wlan0 as well as the firmware.
http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/rt61-cvs-daily.tar.gz

But the driver from the ralink site
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/rt24 ... z?download

does not contain this change and it also uses the config
files in /etc/Wireless/RT61.

Are these separate forks of the driver or is one of these
newer than the other?

Is there a released version for the rt61-cvs-daily.tar,
preferably with an rpm spec file?

thanx!

Well the beta2 release contains that old stuff because it is a release which was done like months before this sticky post...

And latest CVS version is well the latest version...
