No, it's not. It is not part of software, only a data file. (blob)
GPLv2 doesn't affect separate data files at all - unlike GPLv3, which
has those free lunch/anti-DRM provisions.
Amd yes. the firmware could be proven to be a separate piece of
software, I bet windows driver uses it.
