Hmm, I tried to boot with nosmp or maxcpus=0: The machine doesn't boot 
any more with these options. It hangs during "Loading drivers / 
configuring devices" after starting udev in initrd.

Is there another way to bind the hardware and the driver to just one 
cpu? The cpu is a AMD Athlon(tm) Dual Core Processor 4850e.
