[rt2x00-users] RT5xxx vs RT3xxx

Hi,

during testing various Ralink WLAN sticks I saw some interesting
differences between different chipsets. Most notably is that sticks
based on RT53xx seem to perform better on middle/bad radio conditions
than RT30xx/RT33xx based devices. The RT3572 (in 2.4GHz band) also
performs better than the RT30xx/RT33xx. Unfortunately I have no RT55xx
based device yet to test with.

In the statistics (via "iw wlan0 station dump") I can see less retries
and less tx failures. Does anybody of you know if RT53xx/RT3572 contain
better hardware that is causing this behaviour?

Is there any more info available on the chipset differences beside the
rather sparse "documentation" on the Ralink homepage?

I ask because I'm evaluating various Ralink based WLAN sticks and want
to understand why some of the sticks perform better than the others.

thanks,
ron
