I reckon to leave things as they are in OpenWrt, just not to mess things up too
much while they are "in the air".
Once imported to wireless-testing, nothing prevents us from adding module
parameters to allow desktop users easy access to stuff which on embedded systems
will use platform_data.

I'll start preparing the patches now and hope to get them posted till the end of
this week.
