What does the future hold for the rt2x00 project ??
Well, a new driver is currently in the works that is a complete rewrite of the existing rt2400, rt2500 and rt2570 drivers. This rewrite has been done completly from the ground-up, with emphasis on a clean design that will be scalable and easily maintainable in the future
The current plan is for this one module to support all Ralink chipsets, with full functionality for things like
- WEP and WPA-PSK encryption
- Bridging support
- Promisc and Monitor modes
- Full Wireless Extensions Support
- A RaConfig utility tailored for both root and non-root use
And thats just to name a few !
Currently, this driver is in early stages with an BETA build expected somewhere in mid to late 2005.
