Roadmap

From Rt2x00Wiki

Below is a rough outline of our current project roadmap. It covers the area's where we are currently focusing our development efforts.

Legacy Drivers

We currently are only investigating bugfixes for the rt2400, rt2500 and rt2570 legacy drivers. These drivers have "evolved" from Ralink's original sources and are currently only being maintained as medium priority task. At this stage we don't plan to roll in any new enhancements. Eventually support for these drivers will be discontinued.

rt2x00 Redevelopment Project

We currently are also working on a complete driver rewrite - dubbed the rt2x00 project. This driver has been designed and written from the ground up, based on the mac80211-stack (new wireless stack). This driver supports rt2400, rt2500 and rt2570 chipsets. This driver is included in mainline linux and is the future of this project. If you are interested in the status of it you can grab it using git, read the documentation. The most up to date list of issues and work in progress can probably be found on the Todo page.
